 Re: B:BC2
I'm stuck waiting to play multiplayer. There is an update that should be pushed out over the next few hours regarding an issue with punkbuster but until it is, I'm stuck with the single player.

 Re: B:BC2
Issues I've experienced so far 1. Bought Limited Edition but didn't receive additional key for unlocks 2. Once Steam resolved the issue and I received the key, it accepted it but didn't unlock anything. 3. can't connect to servers 90% of the time. 4. Random "kicked by server" error, even prior to actually joining one 5. Punk Buster errors within 30 seconds of connecting, kicking me out again. (Tried manually updating then reinstalling punk buster, neither option worked) 6. M1 Garand for the Veterans reward is there only 1/4 of the time I actually get to connect to a server. Not that it matters anyway since punk buster fails to initiate then kicks me anyway. Well that or I get the randmo kicked by server error, take your pick 7. Failure to log into EA Online after the initial account log in. I've been able to play multiplayer for more than 30 seconds once. It was on a server in Germany where my ping was 175+, that lasted for 15 minutes. Talk about a horrid release. Suddenly I remember why I hadn't bought an EA product in over 3 years.

 Re: B:BC2
Most of the issues I have seen relate to 2 things.
1) Punkbuster (thankfully I am not having this issue) 2) Network Issues
The network issues seem to be between EA and the end player. Sometimes when it fails to communicate it drops you to the desktop, other times you click join and it just doesn't do anything. Other times the client isn't fully aware of your player stats (ie unlocks etc).
So really it is just 2 issues that are manifesting themselves in a bunch of different ways and I think the network issues will work themselves out with a patch, that will do better exception handling on failures, and not to mention the number of connections will drop after the mad rush.

 Re: B:BC2
Would it be worth it to buy the game, play the singleplayer and wait on a MP patch?

 Re: B:BC2
Yeah. The single player is very good. It's story driven much like the call of duty games and has a very different feel to it than the multiplayer. Plus the limited edition is only available for another week or so through steam where you get the editional unlocks. Mine finally started to work last night when I was able to connect to a server around midnight last night.

 Re: B:BC2
So I'm not here to bash pc gaming. But this is why I pretty much switched to Xbox live. My kids would drive me nuts if they had to go through all this to play. Sure there are glitches here and there on that platform but so much easier to manage with my kids. Although I'd be interested in buying the pc version if that meant we could all play together as a clan again. Miss those days....

I still play on PC because I HATE console controls for FPS games. About the only thing I play on the PC nowdays are FPS games.

There is nothing worse than trying to play a FPS with a controller. Can anyone tell me why developers of FPS games on consoles don't support keyboard and mouse?

 Re: B:BC2
Dude, I work for one and can't get a good answer...but by damn, I'm going to press them to do it. The PS3 and 360 BOTH support keyboards...can't be to difficult to support a generic mouse driver too. From then it's all about input mapping...really easy to be honest. Both consoles have HD's so it's not like you don't have room for that shit.

[RWTD]Wampuskitty[GKR] wrote: Super Medic Good grief. I think that equals the total number of points I have. This PB problem is really starting to tick me off. I get kicked on 9/10 servers within 30 seconds of going but it's a server side error so there isn't shit I can do about it. Now the game will actually blue screen my PC from time to time as well when I try to join. I think "Bad Company 2" is a good way to describe EA and DICE when it comes to releases.

 Re: B:BC2
I had a lot of fun yesterday playing with Wamp on a Hardcore server. Hardcore is definitely the way to go but all 3 of the HC servers I played on had the same problem.... sniper whoring. Yesterday the teams we played against were mostly snipers so they'd pick us off a lot, but would lose almost every single time. I think we lost once out of 12+ rounds as even when they were supposed to be on the offense they'd still sit back and snipe, leaving the few poor saps who tried to assault to get their asses kicked.
At least snipers can't dominate the game though. If a team decides to just sit back and snipe the entire time they will probably lose. Hopefully people will catch on to that and reduce the number of snipers. 2 teams attacking aggresively would be a heck of a lot of fun.

 Re: B:BC2
It's not nearly as impressive as Wamps score, but it will probably be a long time before I score 10,000+ points again. Especially since this accounted for 1/4 of my 40,817 total points earned at this point.

 Re: B:BC2
I realized that 10,000 of these points were for 2 career awards that just happened to happen at the same time so this is about as impressive as a hairless cat not coughing up a hairball.

 Re: B:BC2
Finaly played the MP. Eveything worked fine, except I played on some non-ranked servers and didn't get credit for the experience points/unlocks later.
They really need to nerf the M24 sniper rifle. On one map I went 0-12 inside of a few minutes. I even got shot parachuting down onto the map. Snipers--all with the M24--had us spawn camped. I switched teams to see what they were doing, and almost the entire team was snipers. It was a 24 person server. And don't get me started about servers not running auto team balance.
On many maps you can use tanks or APV's. The problem is you can usually only go one way so engineers on the other side can drop mines and there is nothing you can do. If there are no mines, the route you take is so convoluted, it is easy for someone to take you out with an RPG. Or even frag grenades or rifle nades. The ATVs are handy though. You can speed past the other team and attack them from the rear.
