Went to a gunshow sunday and this black russian followed me home. It's a Saiga/Arsenal in 7.62x39. In the future I may change it over to the typical red russian wood furniture. It has the warsaw pact length buttstock which is a little shorter than the NATO style. I like it--makes it feel snugger and more like a carbine. (Barrel is 16".) Another fellow at the show was selling russian optics and I couldn't resist. (Sorry Todd.) I got a red dot and the mount in a handy carrying pouch.

That's also a genuine russian sling.

The show was pretty interesting. I got there about 30 minutes after it opened at 9:00. It wasn't very busy. All the big dealers were there, but many of the smaller ones were missing. Plenty of AR15's were available at great prices, and Romainian AKs were selling below $400. I saw a MSAR 556 for $1199 with the optic and $1099 without. (It was the model like Casey brought to La Grange that uses MSAR mags and not the new one which uses AR mags.) Plenty of ammo was available. One thing missing is that I saw no FS2000's for sale. One dealer had the SCAR in tan for $2200 and it was still there when I left at 1:00.

Shot the AK today for the first time. Pulled the trigger and it went boom. That huge muzzlebrake really tamed the recoil and kept muzzle flip to a minimum. It wasn't that loud though.

Looks slick. You'll have to bring it out to our next shoot.

I am planning on that. I think it would make a great hog gun.

speaking of, it would be nice to have one soon. Dove hunting season is only a month away.

Waay to hot for camping....we could probably set something up in a month or two when it starts to cool off though.

Eric, I found a VZ 58 for sale that I may buy. Pretty cool gun, the only con is it takes different mags than the Ak.

VZ58 is a cool gun, but for the same money you can get a "nice" AK and AK mags and parts are cheap and plentiful.

how about a suomi for something different. Centerfire systems has a great deal on them right now at $399.

Put 2 mags through it this weekend to test it out ofter its repair. $16 for about 7 seconds of firing.....kind of hurt.
